Song of Treachery is a site based on J.R.R. Tolkien's works that detailed the history of Middle-earth during the first age, namely the Silmarillion. For those fond of his more well known works (or even just the fantasy genre!) Song of Treachery offers a convenient stepping stone into a beautiful world that incorporates all of those fantastically familiar themes. Our site features:
• Song of Treachery is set during the later Years of the Trees period and the First Age. You can pick when your threads are set, which opens opportunities for characters you can join as! Consequently, we have a diverse number of forums, so you're not limited to only a few options.
• SoT accepts both canon and original characters. We do have a canon list, but it's of those taken: if you're looking for suggestions you can check out our wanted ads or ask for ideas in our help forum.
• We don't ask that members be at any specific level of writing, only that they be comfortable with the presence of mature content being addressed in character. We do not have a word count.
• Most importantly, we're a community! People who join aren't left hanging. Our flexible years system provides opportunity for people to write with everyone else. Because of that, it's very easy to get involved! You can integrate yourself in a current plot, or establish your own! We'd love to get involved, either way!
[/ul]It doesn't matter how much (or little!) you know about Tolkien or this era of Middle-earth. If you enjoyed his more familiar works, or are a fan of fantasy, we could be the place for you! Song of Treachery provides easily accessible information so you can get the gist of what's going on and if your questions aren't answered there (or you just want a faster answer) you're always welcome to ask in your help forum or the cBox. We'd absolutely love to hear from you!

Morgoth craves the Silmarils.
Fëanor lusts after power.
The Ñoldor rally in great hosts to depart for Middle-earth. They leave in their wake bloodshed, death and destruction. Families are torn asunder by pride and vanity. All throughout an Age, the desire for these jewels drives many further and further into the pit of despair.
Yet, while there is profound tragedy there is also immeasurable hope. Beren and Lúthien face Morgoth's wrath for their own love of one another. If death cannot serve to part them, what chance does the Dark Lord have? Meanwhile, the Sons of Fëanor both defend and destroy, driven by an inescapable oath that heralds their doom.
Throughout the First Age, Elves, Men and Dwarves come together for their own ends under the oppressive shroud of Morgoth's treachery. Love, ambition, freedom and power all conflict with one another as both noble soul and jealous heart meet and are torn asunder.
